Forty-thousand Catholics from all over the country are expected to arrive in Anaheim this Thursday for the Religious Education Congress sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. This is the largest annual gathering of Catholics in the country – over 800 people registered from outside of the U.S.. The event takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center from March 15 through March 18, 2018.
On Thursday, 14,000 young people are registered to attend the congress for a day of workshops, confession and Mass. Over the weekend, there will be 300 workshops and 200 speakers discussing a range of topics from immigration reform, the environment, social media to personal grown.
This is the 62nd annual gathering for the Religious Education Congress, and each year the attendance continues to grow. There will be 14 Eucharistic liturgies in an assortment of languages from English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Latin and more. Priests will be available to hear confessions in designated locations throughout the weekend.
545 Catholic vendors will be in booths located in the Convention Center selling religious books, art, Rosaries, statues, and other religious goods. Religious communities will also be at booths answering questions and meeting with people during this communal gathering.
