Modifications to the standing rules of campus drinking and apartment dinners have been announced.

Last week, Student Congress passed a bill extending the hours and the number of apartment dinners allowed per quarter. Students can now have apartment dinners once a week with at least 3 people of the opposite sex, from 5-10pm. Previously, students were only allowed to meet once a quarter, with 3-6 people of the opposite sex, from the hours of 5-8pm.

Grace Reding, President of Student Government, commented, “We realized the need in extended hours due to interferences such as class and other events. It’s a simple, but assessable change we thought would help the student body.” Further information can be found on page 12 of the Student Handbook.

Additionally, students are now allowed to consume alcohol in the Cabana from 5-10p.m. Jonathan Sperling, Resident Director, said, “The rule was that alcohol could only be consumed from the hours of 7-9pm in the Cabana. We realized we could make it more convenient for everyone.” Full details can be found on page 11 of the Student Handbook.
