Martin Powers and Kevin Stutzke have assumed the Residential Assistant positions of Josiah Lerman and Matthew Middendorf. Next quarter, Timothy Rodriguez and Ruvianne Dela Cruz Mercado will take over for Joseph Graves and Nancy Gossin.

Senior Nancy Gossin gives some parting advice to the new RAs: “At the end of the day, being an RA is about helping people whether they realize they’re being helped or not; and of course, doing that in a gracious way. Refocus and remind yourself why you’re doing the job.”

“It’s a very exciting job which I look forward to doing,” said Rodriguez. Stutzke agreed, saying, “It’s a great opportunity to do what I love to do, which is to help others.”

“The position [is] viewed by a lot of students as a police force instead of…a helper force,” said Stutzke. “I see controversy as an opportunity for conversation.” Rodriguez added, “People don’t really like RA’s, but as long as I’m doing the job correctly then I’m perfectly fine because I know I have people who will support me even if others don’t really like me.”
